New research from the Capital One Insight Center highlights the role small business ownership plays when it comes to generating various wealth opportunities for Black and Hispanic business owners in the Richmond, Va. area.
The report found that 35% of the businesses surveyed experienced $188,000 in personal wealth growth over the course of their business ownership, achieving parity with the median wealth for white households in the US. And, even when personal wealth did not increase, these businesses brought jobs to the community, enhanced neighborhoods, and provided essential goods and services.
