Vandeventer Black attorney’s Anne G. Bibeau and Michael D. Pierce were both selected by the judges of the Norfolk Circuit Court to serve as chairs on three-member panels for The City of Norfolk Grievance Procedure.
The City of Norfolk Grievance Procedure is an administrative process for The City of Norfolk employees to challenge management actions with regard to their employment. Employees’ grievances are heard and adjudicated by three-member panels. Ms. Bibeau and Mr. Pierce are among those selected to chair those panels.
“I’m excited to be selected for The City of Norfolk’s Grievance Procedure. I look forward to working on these cases and giving both sides a fair opportunity to be heard,” said Bibeau.
Bibeau focuses her practice on labor and employment law, alternative dispute resolution, commercial and general litigation, and tax litigation. She represents clients before federal and state courts, arbitrators/mediators, and administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the National Labor Relations Board. She advises clients on sexual harassment, workplace investigations, the Family and Medical Leave Act, disability law, labor relations, and other labor and employment law matters. She also serves as an employment law arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association.
“I am honored to have been selected to serve The City of Norfolk in this capacity. I certainly intend to do my part to bring fair and just resolutions to any grievances assigned to me,” said Pierce.
Pierce’s practice includes matters involving labor and employment law, workers’ compensation insurance defense, maritime law, and general litigation. He defends lawsuits in both state and federal courts. His detail-oriented writing and research make him an asset to all clients, whether they are embroiled in intense litigation or seeking guidance on compliance and regulatory issues. In employment litigation matters, Pierce has represented employers in discrimination actions brought under the Americans with Disabilities Act, Age Discrimination Employment Act, Family, and Medical Leave Act, Title VII, and the Equal Pay Act.
