Woods Rogers is pleased to announce the expansion of the Intellectual Property team as Timothy J. Bechen joins as Of Counsel in the firm’s Richmond office. The addition of Tim, a registered patent attorney and experienced IP prosecutor, expands Woods Rogers’ ability to serve business and emerging growth clients across Virginia.
Tim joins Woods Rogers after spending many years as a successful solo-practitioner at the law firm he founded after working in several large law firms including a large IP boutique. Tim supports clients across the country and internationally in a variety of industries with a full range of IP needs.
“We are delighted to welcome Tim to our IP team,” said Woods Rogers’ President Dan Summerlin. “Adding a second registered patent attorney and having him in our Richmond office does more than expand the IP practice geographically. An attorney with Tim’s background and talent also allows us to offer our services to a new set of businesses and industries.”
Tim graduated from the University of Iowa with a B.S.E. in Electrical & Computer Engineering and a Certificate of Technical Entrepreneurship. His legal practice focuses on electrical, software, mechanical, biomedical, videogame, puppeteering, and business method patents in a wide variety of business arenas.
“I am excited to join Woods Rogers and their highly respected IP Prosecution and Litigation teams,” Tim said. “Combining my experience with the firm’s resources will be a real benefit for my clients. I’m looking forward to hitting the ground running with my new Woods Rogers colleagues.”
Tim is admitted to practice law in Virginia and in front of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
