The Greater Richmond Transit Company (GRTC) is excited to announce that its new Downtown Transfer Station will open for regular service along with scheduled route and frequency adjustments on Sunday, September 10.

The station will provide a new and enhanced experience for GRTC riders, improving connectivity throughout the GRTC network and the greater Richmond region. New features include 24-hour lighting, USB charging ports in sheltered waiting areas, individual and kiosk-style screens with live bus tracking information, and island platforms for quicker and easier transfers between buses.

The project, which was constructed using local, state, and federal funds and represents the first off-street home for GRTC’s downtown transfer hub, is an achievement made possible thanks to the City of Richmond Office of Equitable Transit and Mobility, the Department of Rail and Public Transportation, and many more committed supporters of public transit.

GRTC will be hosting a public ceremonial ribbon cutting on the first Monday of service, September 11, at 10:00 am – details to follow.
