White Lodging, one of the nation’s leading hotel management companies, today announced the naming of Daniel Pora as general manager of the Richmond Marriott Downtown.
Pora comes to Richmond with 28 years of experience from Marriott brands. His vast scope of work in the hospitality industry spans major cities across the U.S., including Philadelphia, Lexington, Cleveland, Milwaukee, and Indianapolis. Before arriving at the Richmond Marriott Downtown, he served as the general manager at the Sheraton Erie Bayfront Hotel in Erie, Pennsylvania, where his team was ranked #1 in the Sheraton Brand for Guest Experience and Food and Beverage.
Pora is thrilled about moving to Richmond stating, “The culture here is great. Richmond is a growing city and I am excited to experience all that downtown has to offer. The Richmond Marriott is an incredible hotel and together we’re going to further the experience for our guests by shaping what’s already good into something great.”
Pora is originally from Erie, Pennsylvania, and was a graduate of Mercyhurst University with a Bachelor of the Arts in Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Management. He also holds a Liberal Arts degree with a focus in Culinary Arts from Mercyhurst. He has won many awards throughout his career in hospitality, including, but not limited to, the White Lodging Elsa Bruining Guest Satisfaction Service Award in both 2015 and 2022, Marriott Western Region Hotel of the Year in 2010, and the Sheraton Brand Change Maker Award in 2023.
Outside of work, Pora loves traveling, spending time with his three kids, gardening, and following his favorite Philadelphia sports teams.
