Legislative Priorities

Every year, ChamberRVA advocates on behalf of our members, the business community and the region. We engage our region’s public and private sectors toward a common goal of creating prosperity for our communities and our residents. We work with elected officials on policy issues and initiatives that move our region forward.

Our member-driven advocacy is working to improve the region’s economy and quality of life.

Core focuses are:

  • Business Environment and Taxes: Policies that promote a pro-growth business environment and a comprehensive tax system that equitably distributes economic burden among all taxpayers.

  • Economic Development: Policies that support business attraction, retention and growth and inclusive procurement, including investment in business-ready sites.

  • Health, Education and Childcare: Policies that promote a strong system of health care, early childhood care and education, post-secondary education and workforce development.

  • Energy: Policies that provide reliable, cost-effective and sustainable sources of energy.

  • Housing: Policies that increase housing opportunities at all income levels.

  • Infrastructure Investment: Policies that provide investment in critical infrastructure, including transportation, energy, water/wastewater, parks and broadband.

  • Right to Work: Promote Virginia's right to work law as it is written and enforced now.

  • Talent Development: Policies which support the talent attraction, development and retention pipeline of a prepared, educated and talented workforce.
