ChamberRVA has set regional and statewide precedents by establishing early childhood as a component of its workforce development strategies and by raising awareness of the issue among elected officials and business leaders.
In 2015, ChamberRVA’s Foundation became the fiscal sponsor for Smart Beginnings Greater Richmond, and ChamberRVA hosts Smart Beginnings in its offices. Smart Beginnings is working to ensure that the region’s children enter school healthy, well-cared for and ready to succeed in school and in life.
Smart Beginnings Greater Richmond is a collaboration of public and private organizations, businesses and citizens. It serves the cities of Richmond and Colonial Heights, as well as the counties of Charles City, Chesterfield, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, New Kent and Powhatan.
Smart Beginnings Greater Richmond is part of a state coalition of more than 25 Smart Beginnings programs that are all affiliated with the Virginia Early Childhood Foundation (VECF).
